Abeer Sabz Ali
Chapter President | (she/her)
Abeer is the President of GirlUp's Mississauga Chapter. She is entering her fourth year of Political Science with a double minor in Women Studies and Social Justice & Inclusive Communities at McMaster University. Abeer's passion for fighting for gender equity stems from being a political science student, through which she learns about the extent of oppression towards women all around the world. As the president, she has declared GirlUp Mississauga's primary focus to be on education, and has made great advances in that direction through programs started within GirlUp Mississauga. Hafsah Khalid
VP of Sponsorship and Outreach | (she/her)
Hafsah is one of GirlUp Mississauga's two amazing sponsorship and outreach coordinators. She is entering her third year at University of Toronto where she is currently studying engineering. Hafsah's drive for women's equality comes from the fact that it is 2021, and women still don't have the same opportunities as men. Hafsah's responsibilities include seeking business collaborations, reaching out to businesses and organizations for donations, and connecting with other organizations to promote women's rights.
Tabassum Fatima
VP of Sponsorship and Outreach | (she/her)
Tabassum is one of GirlUp Mississauga's two amazing sponsorship and outreach coordinators. She is her third year of commerce and is majoring in finance at York University. Tabassum's encounters with the gender gap in leadership within her chosen field has led her to pursue equality for/representation of women in the workforce. Tabassum's responsibilities include reaching out to businesses and organizations for sponsorships and collaborating with other organizations within Mississauga.
Sahar Rajani
VP of Digital and Social Media | (she/they)
Sahar is GirlUp Mississauga's lead social media and digital coordinator. She will be going into her first year at McMaster University for humanities. Sahar's interest in gender equality stems from seeing sexism within her culture, and wanting to create better experiences for future generations. Sahar's responsibilities include monitoring our social media accounts, managing our junior executives, making social media posts, and so much more.
Kaainat Juma
VP of Events | (she/her)
Kaainat is GirlUp Mississauga's event coordinator. She will be entering her second year of Criminology at University of Ottawa. Kaainat's experiences as a woman of colour and seeing some opportunities being granted to men and not women have led to her passion for women's rights. Kaainat's responsibilities include planning events (the the long list of responsibilities that fall under that).
Tuhr Merchant
VP of Education, Current Events and Journalism | (she/her)
Tuhr is GirlUp Mississauga's Secretary. She is entering her second year of Social Work at Ryerson University. Tuhr's drive for women's equality comes from watching expectations for women harm those around her. Consequently, she works to create a more inviting and safe environment for everyone. Tuhr's responsibilities include maintaining the organization of all the club's documents, tracking the club's progress, and being support for all other executive members.
Maryam Shehzad
VP of Accounting and Logistics | (she/her)
Maryam is GirlUp Mississauga's Logistic Coordinator. She is entering her second year of Accounting and Finance at Ryerson University. Maryam's biggest inspiration for fighting for gender equality is her mom, and seeing the daily struggles women must go through. Maryam's responsibilities include setting up sign up forms, manage the club's finances, manage promotional material, and so much more.

Oshani Gunawardena
Junior VP of Digital and Social Media | (she/her)
Oshani is one of GirlUp Mississauga's talented junior executives. She is currently attending John Fraser Secondary School. Oshani's interest in gender equality stems from seeing other women stand up for their rights. She hopes to create a better future for not only herself, but also for all the women still struggling around the world. Oshani's responsibilities include making instagram posts and engaging with our social media following.
Udisha Gunawardena
Junior VP of Digital and Social Media | (she/her)
Udisha is one of GirlUp Mississauga's talented junior executives. She currently is attending Meadowvale Secondary School. Udisha's innate belief that women deserve equal opportunity drives her to create a more inviting and inclusive environment for everyone. She strives to empower all women. Udisha's responsibilities include making social media posts and engaging with our supporters on Instagram.
